Earl Grey Tea Cookies - Caity

Image
I love tea and own more teas and tea gear than anyone in their right mind should (I guess that really speaks to my state of mind huh?). Anytime I see a tea related recipe, I have to try it. When I saw this recipe on Pinterest, I was a goner. Earl Grey tea flavored chocolate chip cookies?!?! I never thought a chocolate chip cookie could be improved upon.  The dough keeps very well in the refrigerator or freezer. I made a batch of dough and stored it in the freezer to save it for a special occasion (or a late night craving). A very special occasion presented itself in early December with the arrival of a little puppy named Nigel. He came into our lives slightly unexpectedly, but he couldn't be cuter and he makes Brendan and I very happy (despite the fact that he chews on my hair and sometimes poops on the rug). I threw these cookies into the oven while my friends played with our little boy and they will always remind me of bringing home our little puppy.  This...

Buttery Snickerdoodle Cake - Erin

Image
This amazing deliciousness is from the Smitten Kitchen cookbook by Deb Perelman ( here ) and I recently made it to take to a Superbowl party where it very quickly vanished.  It's basically like a giant snickerdoodle that's cooked perfectly so it's chewy and gooey and amazing!  My only alteration was that I did more of the cinnamon sugar topping because it's so delicious, so you could scale that back if you want. what you will need cookie base: 8 Tbsp unsalted butter , room temperature 1 1/2 cups flour 1 tsp cream of tartar 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/4 tsp table salt 3/4 cup sugar 1 large egg 1/4 cup milk gooey layer: 1/4 cup corn syrup 1/4 cup half-and-half 1 Tbsp vanilla extract 12 Tbsp butter , room temperature 1 cup sugar 1/4 tsp table salt 1 large egg 1 1/4 cups flour topping: 3 Tbsp sugar 2 tsp ground cinnamon

Lime Matcha Grinch Cookies - Caity

Image
I've seen recipes for matcha cookies before and have always wanted to try them but I always chickened out because of the green color. But since it's Christmas time, I think green cookies will be more widely accepted. They're "festive"! In fact, they remind me of the Grinch which is my favorite Christmas movie ever.  These have great flavor, and the lime compliments the matcha green tea flavor very well. These cookies are great straight off the plate or served with tea.  This recipe is from Nicole Stich's cookbook "Delicious Days".  Preparation time: 10 minutes plus 1 hour for cooling Cook time: 10-15 minutes One year ago:  Tomato, Sausage and Eggplant Soup ,  Chocolate Crinkle Cookies Two years ago:  Sugared Cranberries ,  Monkey Bread

Orange Creamsicle Cookies - Erin

Image
I was wasting time bouncing around between cooking blogs when I found this recipe the other day from The Girl Who Ate Everything ( here .)  Orange Creamsicle Cookies, with orange zest and white chocolate chips.  It sounded a little weird, but very delicious, so I made them instead of watching the Superbowl, and I'm pretty sure I made the right choice, haha! what you will need 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour 1/4 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 2 sticks (1 cup) butter 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 1 large egg 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 Tbs. orange zest (about 2 oranges) 1 cups white chocolate chips (or vanilla chips, if you can find them)

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies - Caity

Chocolate crinkle cookies are my favorite Christmastime cookie. Well, they're my favorite anytime cookie. They are so pretty looking and taste so good with a big glass of milk. And they remind me of snow which I am missing a lot lately.   I haven't made Chocolate Crinkle Cookies for a long, long time and since I made them, I've been enjoying them for an afternoon snack, for a pre-bedtime snack, for a post-lunch treat and sometimes for breakfast. The list goes on... This is why I don't make cookies often! This recipe is from the Crepes of Wrath blog.

Snickerdoodles - Erin

I'm not even sure if these really are a specifically American cookie, but all of my friends in London have decided that it is, and they make them to celebrate the 4th of July!  Wherever they're from, they're delicious.  I don't even know where I got the recipe, but I like it because they're nice and chewy, and very good too! what you will need 1/2 cup butter, softened 1/2 cup shortening or margarine 1 1/2 cups white sugar 2 eggs 2 tsp vanilla extract 2 3/4 cup all-purpose flower 2 tsp cream of tartar 1 tsp baking soda 1/4 tsp salt 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon 2 Tbsp white sugar (for rolling) 2 tsp ground cinnamon (for rolling)

Giant Oreos - Caity

Image
The only thing better than a regular oreo is a giant oreo! If you have hands, you can make these cookies. There are only 6 ingredients and if you can stir and hold a mixer you are set.  My mom got the recipe from and old dinner group friend, Joye Shiozawa. They are my favorite with a big glass of milk!
